Overtures Defroster
Our resources and traditional energy source materials are limited. The warning signals of climate change are becoming more pressing. Icebergs symbolise these changes in a dramatic way. But how are we handling the values and responsibilities of our society?
What open spaces are built into our current economy by innovation and new ideas? What kind of progress and communication strategies do we need, to make insights into science more transparent and tangible?
In Defroster, a transdisciplinary overtures team formed by artists, technologists and scientists will discuss future-oriented artistic concepts and strategies aimed at sensitising the public about the impact of paradigmatic changes in our environment and society. The heart of this discussion are the artworks Calling the Glacier and Ethic Disco by the sound artist Kalle Laar.
Participants: Gabriella Giannachi (University of Exeter, UK), Kalle Laar (artist), Serafine Lindemann (artcircolo), Martin Richartz (Senior Technology Manager for the Development of Future Mobile Digital Media, Vodafone R&D Germany), Bernd Wiemann (Managing Director, Vodafone R&D Germany).
